Pecking order

Pecking Order

Description:

Harris’s Hawks work as groups in Arizona . They are residents and nest here in the summer. There is a pecking order and frequent arguments but, no one is ever injured. These two are at the Sonora Desert Museum in the daily Free Flight program so can’t really be put in the avian section.

Specific Feedback Requested:

The flight program is at 10:00 so the lighting is almost always harsh and you have to work with shadows. Any comments are welcome.

Pertinent technical details or techniques:

Canon R6, Canon 24-240mm,116mm, f/9.0, 1/2000sec, ISO 800.
LR for adjustments and enhanced for noise reduction. Cropped. PS to remove some distracting branches around the bottom.

You managed a fine composition on this Charlie, and I 'm sure there’s no way to move around once the show gets started, so good planning. It looks like you picked about the best compromise you could for the focal plane with both birds in reasonably good focus. The harsh light definitely didn’t do you any favors, but no one’s figured out how to fix that problem yet.

Thanks. You just have to hope for the best when you are in position.
