Peppermint Stick Insect

Mossman Gorge, Daintree Rainforest, Queensland, Australia

When threatened, These exquisite little creatures (about 2-3 inches long at maturity) squirt a milky substance that smells like peppermint - I guess predators don’t like that smell.
We just LOVED Australia with all it’s unusual birds and critters, and friendly, helpful, people!

Wow, pretty neat, Sandy. That is one of the reasons I love macro, you get to see the details of the smallest of God’s creation, and the details that are in them. Excellent macro shot in ever way.

A very cool find, Sandy. It even has a minty look to it. Excellent depth of field and a nice composition.
