Petrified Tree Bark

Image(s)

Image Description

I thought I’d push the topic to its limit, this is part of a petrified tree in Petrified Forest National Park. I liked this image in that the outer bark layers are distinct from the cambium layer of the tree, which still looks like wood, and then you see the multi-colored minerals in cross section.

Scott: I love the Petrified Forest; a genuinely target rich environment for sure. This is a color junkie’s delight with the added bonus of great textures and lines. Nicely seen, composed, captured and presented. >=))>

Scott, it’s tree bark…the challenge didn’t specify living . You’ve got a good mix of bark and wood, with the bark showing some fine crystals and color.
