The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I spotted the young bison zooming around while driving through Elk Island National park near Edmonton. They ran around the herd which slowly moved and browsed the spring grass.

Specific Feedback

Are the bison on the right side of the frame too distracting? This image is slightly cropped.

Technical Details

ISO 3200, 1/1250 s, f6.3. 600mm on full frame. Processed in LR with new denoise.

Hi @bryannelsonca, This image is so much fun! The little fellow parallel to the front looks like he’s off the ground. Good catch. I do agree that the butt of the adult on the right could be eliminated. Rather than crop, I’d suggest using Photoshop’s terrific content-aware tools. You’ll have to experiment to determine the best way to do that. Thanks for sharing this image!

Having just been to Yellowstone in June and seen these little calves for the first time in person, I love this image. You’ve captured such a fun romp for these three bison kids. I agree that the adult rump/tails would be good to remove if you are OK with that. It is a distraction from the main event here as is. :+1:

Bryan, the action of the youngsters here is a fine catch. I’ve spent quite a bit of time watching the Bison in Yellowstone and it takes patience to find them playing. Yes, removing the adult rumps would be good. I would also suggest that more mid-tone contrast would show off the details in their fur better.

@Susanna_Euston, @Ed_Williams, and @Mark_Seaver. I generally try to avoid generative fill in my images and usually use it to remove small distractions from images. I did go back and did some regenerative fill on the image, re-cropping to 16x9, and added a bit of contrast .
