Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Putting water on the ice in the birdbaths today and one of them had the ice floating so I pulled it out and it landed on the unkempt grass beside it utterly intact. I had to go in and get the camera to play.

Specific Feedback

To me this image has a feel of frozen effervescence that I find appealing with enough underlying grass to make me wonder what’s going on. How do you react to it?

Could be 7-Up bubbles, but that greenery looks more like bubbles rising to the surface of an aquarium. Those daisy-looking flowers at the top have me puzzled, however. I like it . Good idea. I have taken ice off a bird bath and placed it on leaves, but wasn’t satisfied with the results.

Dennis, your image grabbed me to explore what as going on. The repetitive bubbles with the variations holds my eye as I tried to see what was behind them. Nice job experimenting and making an eye holding image.

Very sharp for such a complex subject. I agree those ice “daisies” are fascinating; I wonder how they formed. I love the lowest part where the bubbles seem to be rushing upwards. I might be tempted to clone out a narrow slice of the left side as that brown leaf distracts me a bit. Very well seen and taken.

Dennis, this is very cool (pun intended) and unique. The title is fitting !
I’d like to see it a bit sharper but it’s very agreeable just as it is.
Great eye to have seen this!

It’s a very interesting shot, Dennis. Out of curiosity I copied it, converted it to black and white and boosted the contrast. That works too but I think I like the bits of color coming through in the original.

I was attracted to this image right away. I see something different each time I look closely: beads spilled from a necklace, bubbles, and overall movement from bottom to top. I like that the large frozen bubble are mostly in the center. The image looks like it could be two images combined. Beautiful!
