A Sea of Bubbles with Colors

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This is another look at this very thin ice covering with lots of water bubbles underneath. The thinness of the ice allows it to show Birefringent colors when the ice layer is thin enough.

Specific Feedback

The mass of bubbles and scattered colors caught my eyes leading me to a strange sense of outer space, with colors(!).

Technical Details

R5, 180 mm macro, 1/200 s, f/11, iso 3200, tripod and polarizer. A 10 shot stack.

Mark,

This is crazy cool! What I like best is that not all the bubbles show birefringent colors. That randomness coupled with the progression of bubble size and density moving from bottom edge to top produces a nice contrast between order and randomness.

Mark: What Youssef said. Fantastic image of a totally unique subject and moment. Most excellent in every way. >=))>

Another great one, Mark. I really like how the angle shows the bubbles as oval. Agree with all the positives above.

I forgot to mention that I also like how the bottoms of the bubbles seem to be blocked by bubbles in front them giving a 3D effect.

Mark, this is another great bubble image. It would sure make a challenging jigsaw puzzle! Well done.

Another very neat frozen bubble image, Mark. This would be great as an abstract as well.
