The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
The cascade where the flow enters my backyard pond creates lots of bubbles that make for interesting and challenging photos. In this case, the smaller bubbles (less than a centimeter in diameter) were showing lots of iridescence (most likely from thin film refraction). This cluster floated past almost directly under my set up, so I could get nearly edge to edge sharpness.
Specific Feedback
I would like to have the entire bubble cluster sharp, but these are moving constantly, so a reasonably fast shutter is needed. Maybe someday there will be enough light and the right conditions…
Technical Details
R5, 180 mm macro, 1/250 s, f/10, iso 3200, tripod, 58% of full frame.

Mark, this looks like what is left in my kitchen sink every night! lol…
Love the comp and colours, and the detail in all the tiny bubbles. I only mind your reflections because it replace some of the brilliant colours. I’d rather see them than your tripod and camo jacket!
I’m not too fond of the BG, and wonder what a black BG would do to pop the image more.
Stunning image…
This is fantastic! I love the iridescent colors result from thin film interference, it almost gives the bubbles a sense of life, as if they are looking back at you. Your reflection in the bubbles is also great and again giving the sense of a living thing looking back at you. I don’t seen any unsharp areas in the bubbles.
So cool!! Everything looks in focus to me and the colors are amazing! I love that each bubble is viewing you from a different angle – you must have been inches away.
Maybe this is a case for a different look with a 1000mm macro, to get you and the rig off to the side more? DOF would be an issue, though and it would minimize the different perspective of each bubble.
I was thinking it might be possible to use a remote shutter release to get you out of the reflection (nothing personal, Mark! and the gear would still be visible). I’d love then to see just one of the larger bubbles blown up. Anyhow, stunning colors, great focus, congrats!
A very cool image and the colors are amazing. The loss of sharpness due to limited DOF is not a problem. Smaller bubbles add a lot of depth to the image. I like this one as presented…Jim
Excellent, Mark. I was at a local Japanese garden a week ago and took a similar picture, but got nothing like this; too much of an angle I think. The colors are awesome.
Mark, this is a fabulous image. I like the wonderful colors and the pattern created by the repetition of the bubbles, yet each bubble varies slightly. So much to view, it just holds my attention. Well done.
Mark: I’m really late to the party but a really unique POV and result. The spectral display is marvelous. I almost wish you were either clearer or not there at all. It doesn’t work for me as a self portrait and I wish your reflection took up less space in the larger bubbles. Still I certainly admire the skill and patience it took to pull it off. Well done. >=))>
Jim, when I had to do manual focusing, making the smallest change in focus that I could manually worked the majority of the time (even with a 1.6 crop factor camera). With the R5 and automated focusing, life is much, much easier!
