Oh wow - looks like this may be a predation event. Really interesting and well captured. I like the overall setting, perch and background. Nicely done.
Sandy: Terrific capture of what I suspect was a fleeting and special moment. I’m with @Allen_Sparks wondering if this is predator and prey. I like the BG as well and for me the lower branch is a plus and adds context without pulling the eye away from the action. Top notch shot.>=))>
I think this is a pair of blue dashers - female on top, male below - so I hope the positioning is more like an invitation to mate rather than a prey/predator situation.
That’s my hope, at least!
Hi Sandy, sorry but the one on top is not a blue dasher female. It’s a different species of some sort.
A fine catch whatever is happening here. It could just be a dispute over who gets the perch.
Sandy: One quick way to get an ID is to take a picture of your picture with your I Phone and it will try to give you an ID. Works for flowers too. I’m not sure how accurate it is though as my phone ID’d these as blue skimmers but they are native to Australia with no mention of them being in North America. Whatever they are I’m liking this image more every time I view it.>=))>
Finally getting around to viewing and critiquing images today. Had to get my vehicle looked at and then I visited someone in Rehab.
I like this shot. Not sure but I think it might be predator and prey. I have witnessed DF’s killing and eating other DF’s. I like the bottom limb in this case, it helps balance things. Well done.
