The desert has been blooming with all sorts of colors. I found these guys surrounded by yellow flowers.

JT, I like your comp. with the magenta flowers showing very well against the warmth of the oof yellows in the background. The water drop and it’s lensing action are a neat addition.

JT, I have a friend who spends most of his Spring time shooting magnolias and I learn about the beauty of purple and green combination from him. This again proves the effectiveness of that combination. My suggestion would be to desaturate the yellow on the LL corner to become more like that on the UR corner. I think you have positioned these two elements on the perfect place in this image.

I like this, JT. The magenta blooms are well placed in the frame and the two spots of yellow set them off nicely. I find myself going back and forth on whether I’d like more depth of field, but I think any more would probably start messing up the background, so on balance, I think you made a good choice.

A nice macro shot, James! I like the composition with the in-focus flower in the bottom right third. I also like the texture of the petals. Nicely done!

The colour combination works beautifully for me, James - the strength of the yellows I feel to be a plus. Would just like to have seen a touch more depth of focus on the flowers ( especially the second one from the front ) but an excellent composition.
