Description
Resplendent Quetzal male, Costa Rica Rainforest
Specific Feedback
While I hate to cut off a quetzal’s magnificent tail, I wanted to showcase his body and head. Full-tail images to come!

The color palette here is exquisite Sandy. I love the matching colors in the softly muted BG. That perch is awesome, the bird colors are amazing, the bromeliad on the branch really helps the overall balance. The only little nit is those long partially missing tail feathers. What a great pose and straight on look into the lens.
Quetzels are Always a challenge for me another photographers because of the tail feathers. Here we have an image with a very nice approach to detail Color, And composition. They are definitely very good subjects. I might have actually cut it a little bit more off the left side And to Move the center of the image a little further to the left. But this is a matter of taste.
These guys must pose a quandary in the field. This one works for me but I’d love to see more of the bromeliad – it is such a nice balance for the bird. A vertical that shows a little more of the tail, but not all, would suggest the quandary.
Great job on the colors of this bird, Sandy-they’re tough to make look as saturated as they really are without going overboard. The tails of these are a challenge-much like the really large birds. If you include the whole thing you lose the detail in the interesting parts. That’s an interesting choice and it works for me. Given the vegetation on the perch, I don’t think you could crop much tighter without committing sacrilege on it.
Hi Sandy
These birds from CostaRica, just beyond beautiful. In this case I would crop the photograph into 16by9, with the crop ending just bellow the branch, or a crop of 5/4 and show the tail. Vary nice.
