Reddish Egret white morph juvenile

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Navarre Beach, Florida. This is only the second time I have seen a reddish egret white morph. This one did a bit of the dancing that the species is famous for as it hunted for minnows.

Specific Feedback

This was taken on a bright morning with little contrast between the bird, sand, and water. I do like the raised wing as the bird blocks the sun. I included much of the grass on the right to accentuate the composition and because it just says “Florida panhandle” to me.
Any thoughts?

I’ve heard of these, Allen, but never managed to see one. Very nicely captured in a typical Reddish Egret hunting pose which helps convey the relationship. I do wish that band of white sand or whatever hadn’t been there, but it’s still a fine image.

Great pose, Allen, with excellent detail and I like the inclusion of the foliage.

Great wing position of this unusual egret. I like the environment, the typical pose, and the raised leg. The white band of sane isn’t ideal, but you did great with what you were presented.

What a gorgeous image of a very rare bird, Allen. The head down wing upraised is typical Reddish behavior and is awesome to see on this white morph. Looks like you had some harsh light to deal with but the whites look pretty good to me and I just love the grasses and water vegetation on the right side of the image. The colors look very natural to me and I don’t actually mind the sandy beach strip behind the bird. In fact, I kind of like it. A great shot Allen.
