Technical Details

ISO 100, 200mm, f/11, 1 second. Focus-stacked.

Nice composition with all the roots coming from the different angles. And then leading down to the flowers. The muted colors work well together. But just a thought, what about bumping up the yellows of the flowers just a but to draw the eye to the different groups. Though, it might also ruin the flow. Just a thought, since the overall image is so nice.

That struck me as a good idea, Patrick, so I did it. I can’t see a major difference but up close it looks better.

This looks like those branches are hugging those flowers and rocks in the Lower right corner. I really like that section of the image. I could see a slight crop off the top just below that knot because there really isn’t anything going on in the upper frame. This is nicely framed with great balance and interesting subjects, roots flowers and rocks. I might also clone or crop out the little black spot along the bottom of the frame in the right corner.

I like the comp a lot and the version with the enhanced yellows puts it over the top. The roots and main stem remind me of a small waterfall and the flowers help pull the eye through the scene. Other technical aspects of the scene are spot on and I like the crop as presented. Well done…Jim

Very well seen, Don. You have a great eye for this kind of thing. I agree that the added yellow makes this even better than the original.

David, Jim, Dennis, thank you.

David, I lightened the black spot in the lower right. Good suggestion.

I really like the focus on the lines, textures, and colors. It’s a great image of seeing the beauty in a little scene that would otherwise be overlooked.

Beautiful. I was drawn to your image because I like shooting similar subject matter. Did you experiment with cropping off a bit of the top? To me, the beauty of the image is in both the yellow flowers and the texture of the interlaced roots/branches. The “knot” at the very top draws my eye and competes a bit for attention.

Don, I will second @patrick6 comments. I do think the slight extra color improved an already fine image.
