Saguaros

Saguaros don’t all look alike. I’m always on the lookout for those with unusual shapes, like the one in the center here.

I like the almost stark silhouette treatment you gave this image, Don. A beautifully graphic image.

Thanks, Dennis.

Don: I have mixed feelings about this one. I like the stark nature of the silhouettes. I’m not sure about the hint of detail in the cacti and think I would like them to go to black or be brought up a bit. While I’m being a curmudgeon I’ll also mention that for me the BG ought to approach pure white. Here’s a quick and dirty adjustment for your consideration or the trash can. >=))>

You may be right, Bill. I’ll chew on it a while. Thanks for the comment.

The threesome you isolated from the surroundings are a fascinating look at the variety of saguaro. I like the detail within the stems. I also wanted to do something with the BG, as it seemed so stark as to demand my attention. So I darkened it overall and then erased a bit of the mask around the saguaro. I’ve seen BW architecture photographers do this sort of thing - sometimes striking and sometimes subtly.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Dick.
