Wow The TONE and Lines are so good. Perfect in B&W … You have White and Black and lots of Grays. Thats is the way i see and really like your editing. Also your composition is amazing … Did you hand hold this. or tripod. Either way you really captured a cool image !!!
There are so many pictures of dunes but - this one is very special, with the sand, dunes, ripples, and the dust carried by the storm… Very nice. The only little note, I find the background in the upper left part a bit distracting, maybe a more homogeneous and darker background would give further strength to the scene…
Great image, and as others have said, not your typical sand dune. My only nit would be that the dune on the right hand side is a little bright for my taste.
Hi Delton,
This is a lovely dunescape. There are lots of lines, shapes and textures to savor in this scene. I particularly like that saucer shaped dune towards the URC. The blowing sand also makes for another wonderful element here. I only have two small suggestions for this image. The first is to slightly tone down the highlights in the saucer shaped dune and the second would be to darken or crop the BG somewhat in the ULC as it does catch my eye a little. Both would be easy fixes and elevate this beautiful scene another notch. nicely done.
I’m right with the others that this is an excellent dune photograph Delton. It’s busy, but I find that a nice counterpoint to the plethora of simple dune photographs. The various lines really let the eye roam, and that nice bit of blowing sand in the upper right provides a nice place for the eye to eventually flow.
I agree with the others about the upper left, and I’d probably work on an overall vignette as part of that. In addition, you might play with softening the sharpening some; that might better fit with the bits of sand you can see blowing around. Here’s a rough go at those ideas:
