Description
While we’ve been having a lot of rain the last couple of days, it’s had gaps and this male Sharpie (based on size), showed up right at the tail end of a shower yesterday morning. I was afraid I wasn’t going to get anything because his back was to me for the few seconds before he flew, but he gave me one frame with this nice profile head turn.
Specific Feedback
There was a lot of ugly stuff in the background that I painted over. Do you see any issues?

Excellent detail and pose. The background is superb and the perch creates an interesting color combination with the background. If I was going to do anything to the This image, I would probably darken the very top of the perch as it almost looks halo like. But lighting conditions are what they are sometimes.
Hi Dennis, what a great catch of this beautiful hawk. Fine details and I love seeing that red eye so well. BG looks good to me - there is a light fragment to the right of the tail that looks like a tiny water drop. Really nice image.
Head turn is very nice and I like the DOF. I’m glad that it perched long enough for you to snag this fine image. They are very twitchy birds. Well done…Jim
Just luck, Kris. Our previous backyard perch “tree” had been badly delimbed by our early summer horde of Band-tailed Pigeons, so we intended to find a new one. While I was in nice warm Costa Rica, my wife got hit with a very wet heavy snow storm that broke a large limb off a Pacific Madrone at the back of our property. We repurposed the broken limb as our new perch tree. It’s awful tangled because the branches grow every which way, but this guy was nice enough to pick a reasonably open spot to perch.
Very nice Dennis! The intricate feather details of the Sharp-shinned Hawk are truly mesmerizing. I love how you can see each feather so clearly, especially after the rain.
The framing worked out well, with the bird nicely centered and the branch providing a strong base. The blurred green background does a great job of keeping the focus on the hawk.
