Hi Dick, Fine image you have shared with us. I love the suggestive ambiguity of the log and branches. Shadows are dark enough for punch while still showing good detail in the wood grain. Well seen and processed.

Really like this image Dick. I’m a sucker for coastal abstracts combining weathered wood and rock. The chaos of it is wonderful. Here you also have the benefit of the green lichen or algae to punch up the logs. As for the dark areas, you need them to provide contrast to the gray and green palette.

Hi Dick, congrats on the EP! I enjoy the variety of textures and shapes you’ve captured here, and the rock is a nice accent that emphasizes the weathered aspect with the white lines. The shadows seem fine to me.

A couple thoughts:

  • There appears to be a clone stamp repetition or something in the lower right. The rock with a bit of green grass is repeated and larger.
  • The bit of sunlight in the top middle shadow is a bit distracting for me, so perhaps this can be toned down or cloned out.

Congrats again!

Egads, that chunk in LR is quite a mistake. Fixed it and changed the post to reflect the fix.

Oh wow. I can see why this got an EP. This is really captivating. My favorite part is where the wood broke and left those ‘ligaments’. But all of it is fascinating. I also like the overall darkness with diffused light. My only suggestion would be to burn in a bit the white striations on that rock. This image has vision in my opinion, and that’s a big deal.
