I like the head on look-not easy to come by in a flying bird-and the water droplets around the beak. Nice light on the background.

Very cool, Sandy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a head-on image of the skimmer at work. Detail and composition is excellent and I like the point of view.

If you have the pixels, I’d love to see a real close-up of this action-I’ll bet just the head and part of the wings would make a really awesome look.

Good idea! I’m always anxious to hear alternate ideas! I’ll do that and post it this afternoon

Tighter crop posted

Hi Sandy, love the head on view! Unique perspective. Great to get the sharpness dead on where it needs to be. The tighter crop is interesting too but the posted size is so small I can’t tell how well the image quality held up.

Ok, I ran it through Gigapixel (haven’t used it previously) to claim more pixels, and re-posted the tighter crop.

It came out pretty well Sandy. I don’t use gigapixel often, but I’ve heard others suggest using it early in the editing process to get the best results.

Hi Sandy, thanks for reposting the close up in a larger size. I have mainly used ON1 resize to increase size for images that have been large crops and have gotten good results but I haven’t pushed the limits as far as this example. To be honest, this one doesn’t hold up to my particular preference of sharpness in the larger view. The interesting perspective still holds though which for me is better demonstrated in the original version. My two cents anyway.

Thanks, Allen. On 1 has a free trial, and I love to try new stuff. I’ll give it a shot with this, and post the results to see if they are any better. It’s still quite a large crop.

Hi Sandy
I think, I’m going withe the titer crop. Some day I finfone of this Skimmer to photograph. Nice work.
