This image was captured a few years ago on a trip to Acadia NP. My brother and I were on the park loop road predawn headed to a sunrise location when I spotted the mist floating over the calm waters of Beaver Dam Pond. We made a quick stop and spent the next hour photographing and savoring the magical scene before us. By then people started noticing the tripods and just had to stop and ruin the quiet solitude of the moment. It was a great hour while it lasted.

Oops, I forgot to clone out that birch reflection along the top middle of the frame. This was a very peaceful serene hour of photography with the mist hovering over the water. I hope that comes across in the image. Anything else you notice please feel free to mention it.

Ed, I really like this image. When it first caught my eye I thought it was an ICM capture. After looking at it for an extra few moments I realized that it was a shrouded reflection. Robert Engle
WOW! This is simply wonderful!! You have conveyed the solitude you describe. I love the soft colors and the composition with breathing room on the edges and some fading toward the top and bottom. 11/10.
I agree with @robert21 that this has a wonderful ICM quality to it, even though it wasn’t made that way. It has great lines and pastel color, and the overall high key lends a special sense of mystery. Excellent.
Lovely and welcoming image. I love the soft tones that help create a dreamlike image. I didn’t notice the one birch until you mentioned it and now I can’t unsee it - but the rest of the image translates well.
Ed, I think (but maybe not…) that I’ve seen this view before. It’s a great, peaceful, relaxing fog view that’s very nicely abstract. I like how you got the white trunks and their reflections standing out and creating a sense of movement while the subte colors fill the frame with their peaceful invitation.
I love the peaceful softness of this image. So dreamy and ethereal. You’ve done a great job of composing the scene. I totally understand about people coming and ruining the peace and solitude by talking.
