Somersby Falls

I sat down with the intention to edit a Forrest type scene. I found this shot from a few months ago & decided to get some editing into it.

The idea here was to use the sun flare to illuminate the scene with an analogous colour composition (primarily colours on the green/yellow spectrum) & draw the eye into the centre of the frame. The aim was to make it look mysterious similar to the feel when looking at work like Enrico Fossati’s

What technical feedback would you like if any?

I’d love to know if there’s anything I can to help the composition, if the colours work & whether or not I’ve gone too dark in the shadows - I always find it a hard balance.

Overall a nice image. I like the composition and the colors, and I think that the lighting and current processing do a fantastic job of drawing me in.

I also struggle to find the right balance when I’m processing shadows, but here, I do think I’d prefer to lift them a bit more. The darkness feels too heavy for me, particularly on the left side of the image.
