Rainforest scene

Been editing this and I’d love some feedback, I’m kinda new to editing forest stuff and I’m really enjoying how different the process is

What technical feedback would you like if any?

  • How does the composition look, are there any elements which are distracting?

  • I’m trying to go for “moody”, however, I know sometimes in doing this I go super dark with images - just wondering if the shadows and darks look okay here also

  • How do the colours work, does the eye go through the foreground into the brighter/warmer background?

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

If you’ve got any artistic feedback, I’m all ears

One thing I did a little differently here is adding some artificial ‘rain’ in the background - wondering if a. you can notice it and b. if it looks realistic

Pertinent technical details or techniques:

(If this is a composite, etc. please be honest with your techniques to help others learn)
Two shots, one for the foreground and one for the background. put into photoshop, blended and camera raw adjustments

Dale, it feels to me like you’ve got two photographs here that compete. But of the top and the bottom, to me this photograph is clearly about the top. And let me say, I love it. It’s a beautiful spotlight that is very moody indeed. I don’t notice that you’ve added rain. It seems misty and that works for me. The dominant green works very well with the reddish browns and yellow. The bottom of the frame, however, doesn’t, in my opinion add anything to this picture. In fact, I feel like it seriously detracts. I really don’t want to be spending the time you seem to be asking of me looking at the rock and the foam. I want to get to the back of the frame where things get really interesting. Here is a suggested crop - 4:5 which works much better for me. The underlined words being, “for me”

Dale, in my eyes a successful image . About the crop I am with Kerry. The crop makes the image stronger.
