Sound Of Silence

One of my favorite places to take pictures or just take a walk is the beach, every time I come to the same shoreline it looks different, the weather, the waves, the colors of the water and the sunset, every day looks different from the previous one.

Made this photo from 7 layers in photoshop in order to get all the spilled water on the rocks.
The base is the layer with the small crashing waves on the left, and then I added the other layers to complete the spilling water on the rocks.

Lovely scene.
I would really encourage you to get the telephoto out and explore some of those awesome details in the water - the link flowing water for example on that near rock… oh boy!
Otherwise, for this photo, everything seems fine… it is just that I’m not sure the composition does much for me. The sky isn’t exciting enough to include and I’m not sure the left 1/3d is useful.
If I’m reading you right, this is a mixture of moments too, no? Cheers.

Thank you for your feedback Matt

Ron,

Excellent seascape - quite beautiful actually. Love the colors. Also think the water, splash and ledge that is repeated twice is pretty fascinating. Two flat shelfs, wave splashes at the same time and the run-off create quite the interest here.

Matt makes some excellent observations and suggestions. Personally, I think the sky works in the image as the colors and light create some complimentary interest, I think.

For sure though, that water running off the shelves is wonderful! Zooming in on those features has some great potential there.

As captured and presented, I like this quite a lot and can’t offer much in terms of suggestions to improve. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Lon,
I tried Matt’s suggestion to reduce the amount of space the sky takes up in the image, but it didn’t work (for me anyway).
Regarding the great idea of zooming in on the water running off the shelves, I love to try it when I’ll have a telephoto lens one day
