I managed to get this shot of a Stellar’s Jay in our backyard near a feeder. Not only do they have cool colors, they have a cool 'do too!

Great grab of this stellar Dave, and I’ve yet to see one. How many worms or bugs did you pay him to strike that pose, ha ha? Enjoyed the detail and colors in the enlargement too. Guess I’ll have to head West to find one.
Beautiful portrait, Dave! These guys are so hard to get out in the sun! I think I’ve only seen them in the forest and in shadows. I never knew the blue was so bright! It’s always looked dark blue in the settings I’ve seen them. The sun brings out an iridescence in the feathers, where they’re almost like turquoise! Nice pose too!
