Sumacs in fall

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The colors in a single sumac shrub in fall amaze me. I believe this is smooth sumac.

I tried some ICM to capture the colors as the main subject.

The images are all from last fall, in my local natural area in Chicago.

Specific Feedback

Any and all feedback welcome, but most of all I’m never sure about cropping or composition with ICM!

Which of the four do you prefer?

Technical Details

All shots are 100-150 mm, small aperture, around 1/2 sec IIRC. Canon EOS RP.

Matt, these are all interesting. Your series show how ICM can produce a variety of results.

Of the four, I prefer the last one. I think abstracts often benefit from having some recognizable elements in them. There are times when a little camera movement is all we need.
