Summertime & the Fishing is Easy

It was an incredibly wet summer this year so almost all of my Black Bear photos are of sopping wet bears. This is probably a 2 year old male that just grabbed a fish, any fish, from the huge supply of salmon at low tide in the Port of Valdez. As you can see, that isn’t a difficult task during spawning season.

Hi Gary,
What a great action shot!
There’s a lot to like about this and I think the expression on his face is priceless.
It’s feast or famine for these bears, one day salmon are everywhere, then they’re gone.

Composition and exposure are great and the details you got with f6.3 are spot on.

Nice work.

No wonder this is a favorite. Reminds me of my indoor kitty when he got a chipmunk he dashed out on the deck to confront. Basically - now what do I do? Funny and I’m sure that the bear had a better idea than my silly cat (and the chipmunk was relatively unharmed). Great detail and moment.
