The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This image was taken from Sun Mountain in Winthrop WA and provided a wonderful vantage point of the dappled light hitting the surrounding landscape late in the day. I usually don’t take many images of big view landscapes, so this is a bit of a change for me in perspective.
I feel pretty good about the composition which involved mimimal cropping, but certainly open to comments and suggestions. However I not sure if the color and exposure are on the mark.

Given the nature of late afternoon light, I think the exposure, color, and contrast are very nice. It has a gentle look that is very appealing. The clouds are wonderful and their coolness balances well with the warmth of the hills.
This is a beautiful subject and the late light accentuates it nicely! I like the variety of landforms.
I’ll offer a different perspective and suggest tweaking the white balance. I did a quick adjustment in Lightroom using the eyedropper on the clouds in the ULC:
Lightroom is suggesting to cool it down and also make it more magenta – given the time of day, perhaps warmer is a better representation. But I did notice right away that the clouds looked a bit green, which is something I’m extra-sensitive to after someone else on here once pointed it out to me.
Matthew, thanks for your input and I agree looking at my original image there is green in the clouds. But a question for you: how did you get Lightroom to suggest adding magenta?
However, I usually just eyeball white balance instead of using the eyedropper, as in my experience it often gives wonky results. Occasionally, as in this case, it can be helpful in suggesting a direction to push the sliders.
Hi Pat,
This is certainly a grand view for sure and the interplay of light and shadow is flat out gorgeous. The clouds are another wonderful element and add a little drama and visual tension to the scene. IMO the exposure looks spot on. My only suggestion is the already mentioned slight green cast by @Matthew_Chatham. I think his small tweak and rework made an already wonderful image even better. Very nicely done.
A grand landscape; beautiful light and a killer sky/clouds. I think there’s a good balance between land and sky. The light is lovely.
Regarding color, WB, etc., this is dang good as presented, but acknowledge there will always be tweaks in one direction or another and those all reside in the realm of personal choice and interpretation. Having said that, after the fact, I too can see the slight green tint in the sky. I think the light and greens on the hills are pretty dang spot on.
No other nits or suggestions. My initial thought… I could live there… arrow pointing to the homestead in the lower right, lined with trees.
Hi Ed, thanks for looking and yep there is a touch of green in the sky that I will fix and share. But more importantly, I have the house in the lower right with the trees with your name on it. Directions and access to be forwared in a separate communincation.
