Sunrise on Seneca Lake

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was spending a night at this location with my daughter, and we woke up to this beautiful sunrise. She suggested putting the chair in a photo and I loved the idea, sat on the floor of our room to take the photo out through the open sliding glass doors. I wanted to get a starburst effect.

Specific Feedback

All feedback very welcome. I was wanting the starburst and trying to get most of the photo in focus. There was an amazing long cloud rolling slowly down the Seneca River, but I found it hard to capture. May have been too many ideas here.

A beautiful sky, Shannon, and I really like the chair. I’m waffling over the relative brightness of the sun and its reflection off the arm of the chair. I love that bright arm, but wonder if it’s just a hair too brights. If it’s not completely blown out, you might play with bringing down the highlights on it in your raw editor.

It’s quite an interesting image.

P.S. It doesn’t matter this time, but our site rules specify no more than one image post per day on the entire site to slow the onslaught down enough for people to write meaningful critiques.

Thanks very much for the feedback on the photo, I’ll play around with that! Also, thanks for the rules, I must have missed that but will remember for next time.
