Pertinent technical details or techniques:
I am experimenting with using a very long zoom lens to try and pick out some interesting bits of a landscape instead of just shooting wide, the experience was certainly more active
What do you think? Is this too busy? Does it work for you?
Canon90D ISO100 1/160 ManualX spotM Sigma150-600mmc F8.0@600mm (ff 900mm_eq)
Fairly extensive post, shadow up, highlights down, orange luminocity reduced a touch
Overall, I really like the effect. The colors are fantastic, and I think the foggy mystery of the background trees is excellent. I do think you are picking up on something with the busy comment; the foreground trees feel a bit cut off to me, and don’t add a lot for me. (The background is so rich, I wish I had a view of it without obstruction.) I like the plane in the image, but wish it wasn’t so close to the edge.
Thanks John, I appreciate the feedback, will see what I can do about those when opportunity next presents itself
Hi Geoff, I like the row of evergreen trees, I always think they add a good texture to most images. The layer of fog is a nice element, also. The cut off tree on the right side makes the image out of balance for me. The hot white and yellow along the top left are rough on my eyes. It does look a bit busy for a long telephoto image.
Thanks Stephen, I have been trying to more/better versions of this one since, but the weather hasn’t been cooperating…
I wondered what you thought of these slightly different shots from the same day, I think they are rather beter framed, and perhaps better composed, despite lacking a plane.
Which of the three do you prefer?
