Choke it down ands get away

Description

These are more images from Baja California a few weeks ago. As I said in my last post, We had at least 5 different fish fights between birds. This was a Blue Footed Booby that had come up with a fish (they are exceptional hunters and rarely miss when they dive) when all of a sudden a pelican flew over and literally put a choke hold on this BFB. This sequence was about 20 frames so it all happened fast but the BFB got away with his meal and maybe a sore neck.

Another amazing series from that trip, David. The action is incredible and the extreme close-up view adds to the drama. Very well done.

Wow, great sequence you captured David and you selected just the right frames to depict the action. The detail is suburb, and gives you an intimate sense of the action. The eyes especially convey a sense of urgency for each of the birds.
