Fine shot, Karl! I particularly like the way the lightning bolt leads my eye to the hill or mountain on the horizon. The rain is also a plus. I like the road that runs through the scene.

You might consider bringing the dark tones up some. To me they seem a little too dark for a daytime shot.

WOW !!! No words needed here !!! You can see and feel this image… I wouldn’t change a thing Karl. Great shot !!!

WOW indeed! First time’s a charm here, for sure! Everything is perfectly placed! No suggestions except print and frame!

This is awesome! I love the composition, but I’d like to see just a little more foreground. As far as the tonality, you have a full range of tones, so I wouldn’t change that.

Very dramatic image, and nicely done!

Thanks for your generous observations

Thanks @Don_Peters - attached is a lighter version - though a daytime shot, the clouds did get dark and the rain started coming down - lucky to still be around!

I agree - however, there was. a fence with No trespassing!

Please see revised vesrion

This is great. Love the dramatic clouds to go with the lighting bolt.

Hello, Karl. How are you doing? Nice to see a post from you again. I like everything about it. No suggestions from me. Very dramatic shot. Love the lightning bolt and the falling rain.

Very impressive Karl. I get a physical reaction from the picture it has so much energy. As has been suggested you could try a bit more foreground if you have it. I don’t even know if that would make an amazing picture more amazing, but you could try. Well done on this.

I have been very busy with work and my health - but slowly getting back - David K has done a marvelous job with NPN - i will be contributing more!

I think the new version with a bit more FG is a nice improvement – if anything could improve this wonderful image!

Gorgeous image, Karl and going B&W let you really get those clouds looking even more menacing than I’m sure they were.

The added FG with the new curving lines provides a refinement to the eyepath leading into the main elements.

Nicely done!

amazing images and an impressive bit of kit!

Karl,

Welcome back - glad to see an image post from you!

And what a photo this is!!! Simply phenomenal. I would even say epic! Your b&w processing is top notch too.

I don’t have anything to add or suggest. I do like the added foreground - that makes a big difference.

Congratulations on this capture Karl! Perhaps a once in a lifetime moment! Wow!

Karl,

What an outstanding photograph. The B&W treatment is the perfect call for it as well. The revision is even better. I really like all the variation in both texture and tones in the background clouds. It adds so much to the overall mood of the photo. I also am just loving the additional subtle lightning in the URC. How fortunate that the main lightning bolt emerged right where the rain was dropping, and that mountain on the horizon and the highlight rim lighting on that rise in the foreground. What is there not to love about this photo. Congratulations on a wonderful capture.

Thank you all for your generous comments and suggestions - made a print - quite nice!

Not much to add here Karl, but I’ll echo the welcome back! I’m surprised how much @Preston_Birdwell’s suggestion added; love the revision.
