The Father of Cygnets

Description: The pond that these Trumpeter Swans use for nesting and raising their cygnets is actually a wooded section of forest that was flooded many years ago when the highway was raised and the culverts were too small. Consequently the old trees and brush are all dead and tangled so the background is not pretty. The vegetation under the water must be in pretty good shape though as it feeds a family of swans every year. I wanted to show the swans in their actual environment so I got down to the waters edge and took some low angle photos. This particular one is a focus on the father of this year’s cygnets with all 3 of them in the background.

Another fine swan image, Gary. I really like the habitat you included.
