The (Lizzard) Eye

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

With dunes, it is often when they are processed in monochrome that the amazing patterns and textures emerge, such as in this image. It reminds me a bit of a reptile head, the eye surounded by scales on the top, the forked tounge on the bottom.

I missed last week’s “Nature’s Patterns” challenge. this was the image I had in mind to submit, so was happy to see this week’a challenge be “Monochrome”.

The light on this particular trip was truly outstanding, creating the most dramatic plays of light and shadows. This particular image I flipped upside down in LR, as it, at least to me, lend a bit more drama to the scene.

I hope you enjoy, and I hope you do not tire of my DuneObsession.

Specific Feedback

As always, all feedback is welcome.

Technical Details

1/400 sec, ISO 320, f/11, 180 mm, image flipped upside down in LR

Stunning, Fritz, and I will never tire of your "dune obsession! The lines create wonderful graphic feel and the textures add just enough diversion to pull my eyes in further to the image.

This is a great contrast image. Edward Weston comes to mind. Black and White works perfect. !!!

Fritz, this is very stark and very dramatic. The few places that show texture are important inclusions. Yes, it is reminiscent of some of the b&w greats.

@Mark_Seaver @linda_mellor @Gill_Vanderlip thank you all for your kind words; truly appreciated. This was a fun day of photography, with the dunes all to myself, and the light creating the most amazing patterns.
