The Trio

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I’m back at it again with another new crescent photo from last evening (August 5, 2024). This time with both Venus and Regulus in the frame. I knew that the moon would be near Venus, that is not to uncommon, but upon checking Stellarium, I noticed that Regulus would fit in my frame and so I planned on it. Again, unable to see Regulus at the time with my own eyes, the camera sensor did pick it up clearly. Its tiny and just above the lowest band of clouds about midway from the right edge.

Specific Feedback

Any feedback is appreciated.

Technical Details

Nikon D850, Nikon 400mm f/5.6 ASi MF lens, set at f8, 1/10 sec shutter at ISO 100. Processed in ACR, and PS, some color balance and levels and curves. Nothing fancy. I was surprised at how bright Regulus showed up, even before adjustments.

Another wonderful crescent moon – with loyal attendants! You always find such lovely clouds, too. The color gradient is spectacular! No suggestions!

I agree with Diane, the gradient is fantastic. I call that a cantaloupe sky! Its probably my favorite color and you’ve captured it marvelously!
