This was an image I took this summer in North Carolina called Crabtree Falls. Truly a remarkable place to visit

I really like the composition on this image. But maybe you could try to bring out the darks/shadows up little so we can see more details in this picture. And maybe take some of the highlights off the top of the falls.

I agree with josh, I like your composition but I would lighten up the shot to get a bit more detail. Also, this is more a personal preference but I would have taken an extra shot at a faster shutter speed to blend in to get rid of the blur in some of the leaves.

Really like the composition. I’ve added some diffusion at the top to soften the edges of the highlighted water and opened up the shadows. Highlight dodged the water in the mid ground to accentuate the S curve of the water to tie together the foreground and background more cohesively. Some additional colour correction to make everything match is also required but you get some of my ideas here.

Yes, I live about 15 minutes from there. Its a great place for wildlife. But I haven’t been there in a while. It hasn’t been the same since the hurricane damaged the berm that is the trail for alligator alley. That was one of the best trails! I need to go out there again. Will probably go now that winter is coming and the foggy conditions will help to make some nice tree pictures. Just have to be careful with the hogs.

I’m about 45 minutes from there. Def want to check it out. I’m not much of a wildlife shooter but I’ve been really wanting to capture some nice Cypress trees and Spanish moss with some good light. It looks like it may have some good conditions for that. I’ll ig you maybe we can go check it out.

Sounds good! But I don’t think they have cypress trees that you can actually photograph. You can’t really get off the trails there. All the trails are basically like berms/dikes. If you try to go off, then you will be in the swamp water. And they have some really big gators there. So not a risk you want to take. But let me know and I can meet you out there. There are some potential oak trees that could look pretty good if the fog rolls in. Which it does in winter. I am not available on weekends. That’s when I work. But I am usually available Mon-Friday. So just let me know!

I mostley work weekends too and am off during the week. :+1:

Daniel,

Beautiful and dreamy scene. I think Kah Kit did nail it with subtle changes. Composition is excellent and you handled the light well, although I agree that as presented just a bit dark.
