Caught this mating pair in one of Donna’s gardens (they seemed annoyed with the intrusion). Destructive but colorful.
This is full frame. Cropping to remove the edge of the leaf in the URC and LLC left the comp feeling too tight.
Thoughts?

Jim, you capture nice details in the bugs. It would have been nice to have been able to eliminate the edges of the leaf, but as you said, it makes it seem too tight. So back when you shot the image if you could have repositioned the camera a little to avoid the edges would probably have been the only solution. Still it’s a nice image and I love the colors of the bugs on the green leaf. Nice.
Beautiful image, Jim. I don’t mind the unfilled corners a bit. Leaving them dark works just fine. Beautiful colors in these two and wonderful detail.

I don’t mind the corners either - we see then the size of the leaf. But the larger black blob of gunge could go, as at first glance it looks like it could be a weird part of the antenna. Lovely color contrasts here, and very crisp focus!
