Hi guys,
I heard about NPN from a very good friend of mine today. A few hours in and I am already impressed by the quality of the discussions here. So here I am, jumping right in hoping to fruitful exchanges in this wonderful adventure. I have been photographing seriously for about 6 years now. I was a graduate student then and this was a way to force me to go outside and enjoy nature every once in a while. Here I am, today, becoming more passionate about photography each day. My focus is on nature photography and I do both landscape and wildlife photography. Over the years I have learned a few things that I like and do not like from my image. The image that I am sharing here is an example of what I would say representative of my landscape work.

I’ve spent a whole, whole lot of time in Zion over the last 30 years and I thought I’d seen (and shot) it all. Yeah, the place was starting to get pretty stale for me, and on the last visit I didn’t poke the shutter release a single time. Still loved being there, but I wasn’t the least stirred photographically.
Your shot shows me just how wrong I was!
Terrific clouds interacting with the iconic landscape, and your comp is stellar.
Thanks for showing me I need to dust off my creative mantle and get right back there.

Welcome and great first post! I love the mood created by the clouds. Such a great sense of mystery. Beautiful.

Thanks, @Hank_Pennington and @Harley_Goldman for the kind words and warm welcome.
I also love Zion (only when it’s not a zoo like in the warmer months
). Even though a huge part of the park has been shot to death, I think there is a lot of interesting vignettes that you can make in the park as well, especially along the line of the intimate composition that @Alex_Noriega mentioned in his very inspirational article.
Excellent image Adhika, I’m happy you’re already enjoying NPN and that you liked the article - welcome! I love the mysterious feeling and the restrained tonality here. My only suggestion is to give a little more breathing room on the left, maybe like so:

Thanks for the suggestion, @Alex_Noriega! Great suggestion about the canvas extension. It is an easy job but goes really far. I, too, love intimate landscape and the article is an affirmation to that vision. It’s really inspirational. Thanks for writing the article.
Adhika, a truly wonderful first post here at NPN. A very fine image example from Zion N.P. one of the best parks in our western states. Welcome to the NPN community…
Thanks, @Paul_Breitkreuz! I am happy to be here. This is a great place.
I love this image. It leaves so much room for the viewer to tell his or her own story rather than having it all wrapped up, boxed with a bow.
