Description
Our bird feeders have been very busy with lots of hungry visitors. American tree sparrows are abundant this year with nearly 50 individuals frequenting the platform feeders at a time. We normally get about a dozen during a typical winter season. This one landed about 6 feet away from me and I was able to get quite a few shots before it left for the feeders. The slight head turn and soft lighting brings out the details and rich coloring of the plumage.
Specific Feedback
I left the filoplume (long feather strand on the back of the head) as this structure rarely gets captured in a more typical bird shot. These specialized feathers send information to the bird regarding orientation. How do you like this comp as presented?
