Untitled X

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I have a version of this where I left out the sky and just framed the two bushes with yellow leaves. But I ended up liking how the light filtered through the naked branches behind.

Specific Feedback

Too boring? Too chaotic? Too unfocused? Too unbalanced?

I find it very beautiful and I think you made the right choice about the sky. Looks good either way.

Interesting image in how the light diffuses gently through the entire scene. I agree with you that the trees near the top should kept. Cropping them out would change the nature of this image.

This is a really beautiful and unusual image. The light filtering in from the top is a nice touch. Photos like this need to be viewed as a large print to truly appreciate the myriad details.

I love this image. It’s so lively. It looks like flames to me. I scroll cropped it and it completely looses it’s life, it’s balance and it’s meaning. I might desaturate the greens in the LLC but I love the composition as it is. Terrific flow from the bottom left corner to the top right corner while being beautifully framed by the colors along the top of the frame and the red bush in the bottom of the frame. Well seen.

I like your image Julie, Yes on the chaotic, unfocused and unbalanced…but definitely not boring . I would have tilted the image so the background trees were straight. Sometimes they bother my eyes; but some wonderful playful colors and shapes you are showing …yellow leaves relishing the empty stage against a gray twiggy background works so nicely, great structure those little squiggly branches. Nice reds too. A very Impressionistic work. Nicely captured. I like to play with the Texture and Clarity sliders in Lr when I have a shot like this .

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and suggestions! I appreciate it!
I love finding little scenes like this that only exist while the light is hitting it just so.
Thank you!

Great comments above. I too thought of fire or flames. I also think your us of variable focus works well here.
