What changed: The mottled BG was bothering me and I do like a very zoomed-in view but can’t decide where to crop. And I’m getting ready for a quick trip so decided to just toss out two tighter crops

A little over a year ago we had a very unusual late shower and I went out in search of something to shoot. Some of the already-dead weeds stopped me cold and I spent a long time contorted on the ground shooting focus stacks. (Most were about 2" tall.) Had to wring out my soaking-wet jeans in the garage before coming inside.

Zerene Stacker, an intentional partial stack to make the droplets stand out better. Little if anything done in LR. The stack went into PS for NR and crop. I uploaded a larger file so you can click twice to get a second enlargement.
Double-clicking delicious, Diane. I love shots like this, especially viewing them really close-up and staring at the drop reflections. Then switching out to admire the whole as well as those parts. Amazing the spikes didn’t bend. I might just darken the LRC edge, but that’s peanuts. Great shot!
Diane, the clarity of the drops in the middle is excellent. They show up best in the largest view. You’ve got a nice touch of warmth in the background that contrasts well with the cool clarity of the water drops.

I’m always delighted to find rain or dew drops, but don’t always succeed in getting what I expect from them. These are tiny delicate droplets – probably dew drops that formed as the night air cooled after the rain.
Diane: Effort rewarded handsomely with this shot. Drops from rain or dew are just tiny lenses into what’s behind. The largest view is flat out magical. Many >=))>
Well now…that’s something. I like the tighter crop version - the detail is terrific and I like the contrasting shapes - the straight lines of each bit of fluff and the round droplets covering them. The centers show up better here as well…I’m not sure I could resist the temptation to leave them as subtly colored as you have.
Late to the party @Diane_Miller ! These are exceptional! Your latest revision just sings. The zoomed in is gorgeously stunning, somewhere between raindrops, stars, and dreams. The muted, limited colours whisper their magic as well.
The revised version is excellent. The tighter crop is just what the original version needed.Good contrast and the droplets stand out nicely. You have earned an “Awesome Image” from me…Jim

Excellent comp. I’m really enjoying the color behind the plant and the water droplets. Contrast here is superb. I think the crop for the revision works very well.
