Using Shadows in images

The Japanese culture has a deep understanding of the aesthetics of shadows. I felt that could be helpful when thinking about what kind of image to make. I’ve been circling around some of these ideas unknowingly in my own work. Enjoy.

I agree. The second video has many concepts that are valuable to photographers. Actually, each one can be a subject for discussion all by itself.

I am actually amazed how much Japanese aesthetics contributed to Western art. The big pivot modern art took is largely due to the introduction of Japanese art and African masks it seems to me. A pivot away from the Renaissance.
