Watchbird

In neighboring, rural Kittitas County the Yakima Audubon Society maintains more than 100 bluebird houses in the shrub steppe arid ecosystem common to Eastern Washington. This guy was protecting a female nesting in box 112. While it is not a guarantee, if you have patience, the likelihood of photographing them is quite good. The lower background is sage.

Beautiful little bird, Jim. Wonderful pose too. Excellent all around.

I second David’s comment that this is a gorgeous bird and well-captured, Jim.

Jim, the blue bird looks great against the blue sky.

He is beautiful, Jim. The blues of the sky and the bird complement each other. He looks deep in thought. Very nice.

Excellent pose and head turn. The detail is superb. The larger image is a must see!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments.

Wonderful pose and detail! The arid environment works very well for a soft BG and an interesting perch.

@Diane_Miller Thank you.
