Description

to be honest, I don’t remember taking this or where I took it. It’s from a slide, Kodachrome, dated August 1971. I must’ve been in Colorado, or I was out working for a bluegrass’s band as roadie. We worked all over Colorado and the West and even the East, Texas, Arkansas. In fact, I have a background with the geology degree and there’s not much I can tell you about this. It is so different than anything I’ve ever seen before from the standpoint of being a mineralogist. Well it’s a wonder and it’s pretty impressive. The smooth surfaces were all created by water running down the face of the rock wall here. It took millions if not billions of years to get to this point. I think it’s quite impressive. I can see now that I posted the wrong image. The correct image has the right lower Corner the same colors rock above it and the left lower corner is a little brighter and you can actually see the formation.

David, the blue and red tones are amazing.

A very cool image, David. I did an image search on this and most of the hits were for something called Jasper Knob in Ishpeming, near Marquette in Michigan’s upper peninsula. I have no clue if you were through that area in 1971.

As far as the image goes, I love the smooth formation and the colors.

I was there in 1971….

David, this has a psychedelic look to it with these colors and swirls. The rock looks like it was molten lava at sometime. Regardless, the water and wind have no doubt added to the smoothness over time. Only thought for change is maybe tone down the highlights slightly and clone out or crop out the white in the LRHC. … :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
