A grebe with a really large fish. He/she did finally swallow the whole thing.

I remember the days when that would have exceeded the maximum file size, Dan! Great image. I’m amazed it could down this fish, but i remember shooting one trying to down a soft-shelled crab in Texas that gave me a good fifteen minutes of entertainment before it finally succeeded.
You have a nice low angle here and the angle of the bird is perfect. Excellent image. With this good a detail, you might try the Topaz AI gigapixel and see how it stands up to enlargement.
These birds amaze me at what they can swallow. That’s a great catch and probably fun to witness. Setting is beautiful.

Great species (rather shy over here) and the fish is awesome. Great to have the Grebe looking sideways to the camera, makes the fish challenge all the more visible. Great work ! Cheers, Hans
