well seen. I like what you did with the placement of the deer in the frame. We have deer near my place but not white tails. I remember that when I lived in the Bay Area, there were quite a few white tails at point reyes national seashore. unfortunately they were considered a nuisance species.

Lovely images, Allen. It’s always a treat to get one in motion and not running away from you.

Hi Allen, I like both images, as they convey a strong sense of motion. However, I prefer the second image because of the water splashing at the deer’s feet, which adds dynamism. A more prominent reflection could have further enhanced the composition, but even as it stands, the presence of water creates a beautiful sense of habitat. The reflection is subtle and not distracting—in fact, it complements the scene nicely.

I like the reflection in the water . If I were to be fussy, I would prefer the deer in the first with the white tail with a more sharply focused reflection. But that’s really nitpicking, particularly since I’ve never taken a photograph like this one! So great job!

IMHO reflection don’t add much to the frame, I like clean BG is first frame and water splash in the second one. Position of legs is great in both the frames.

Hi Allen, the best thing about these shots is the warm lighting, and I actually prefer the first image; it better portrays movement and shows off the namesake better. The reflection adds interest too. Don’t see anything that could be improved; you took a fairly common subject and elevated it.
