The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Last year hiking along the shore of the Big Island of Hawaii. The conditions were beautiful but also challenging because the waves were so large they would overwhelm most of my other images. This one is one of the better ones, were the landscape and waves were in some balance.
It was a really spectacular day, some of the waves were 40 feet hight after hitting the rocks.
Specific Feedback
The challenge I had with this image balancing the white waves, white clouds and the black rocks.

That does look like a challenging balance Mike. I think the waves and clouds look great, and I love the way the waves almost look like clouds. They complement each other nicely. The soft blue variation is is nice color as well.
I struggle with how dark the rocks are though. This is exaggerate by that bright llc. If the original has detail that allows, I think it would be worth opening those shadows more.
Hi Mike,
I think you were able to strike a nice balance with the waves as they do have some nice action while not overwhelming the landscape and the sky. I particularly like the spray toward the left side as it is a nice touch. Like @John_Williams already mentioned, I too could see lightening the FG landscape just a little while darkening the area in the LLC just a bit as it does catch my eye. I could also see opening the shadows a little along the left edge of the frame. Wonderful scene for sure. Looks like it was a beautiful day!
I happen to like this image very much. I just like all that twisted blackness against that violent foam. They go well together. To me it just shows that you don’t need enormous waves to show violence. If a wave forms a smooth curve or is roundish it’s not violent. I also like the grayish color of the sea. It’s really not grey in the northern sense but it goes well with the statement. But the greatest thing about this is is that black jagged edge that goes from one side to the other. Yes, there are issues: the bright lower left corner and the oversaturated blues in the sky. The sky needs minor tweeking of some of the blue. It’s drawing too much attention off that dark edge. That, to me, is the crux of the matter and should be treated thusly.
