Wood Stork + Filtered

After he fell into my bag of tricks… (mostly Fractalius filter)

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Wokodahatchee Wetlands, Boca Raton, Florida
Full breeding plumage
Wood storks are endangered, but not here - it seems most of the many hundreds of storks in Florida have taken up residence here, sadly, forcing out many of the great egrets, cattle egrets, and snowies of years past.

Hi Sandy, I like the close up pose you caught here with a nice view of the eye. Top image seems to be a bit soft to me. Wonder if the first image could be sharpened a bit more especially around the eye/featherless head area.

I see where the second photo is filtered. I like this look with the features pop a good bit. Interesting image.

A nice portrait. I like how the filter brings out some interesting detail.

Great use of Fractalius – I had forgotten about it since I switched to Mac (where it won’t run) when the disaster of Vista came out in 2007. It can have some very good uses and you hit the mark with it here!

Full disclosure: Mac came out with Leopard just as I switched and it was an equal nightmare. That was an annus horribilis.
