Yakima River Canyon Color

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

There has been some good fall color in the canyon this year. I suspect it is not so now with cold temps and high winds. The trees are located on the far side of the river so it required use of a telephoto lens.

Specific Feedback

Unsure about the out of focus lower foreground.

Technical Details

Canon7DmkII; 100/400 at 400; 8.0; 1/200th; spot; WB: auto; 1600 ISO; +1.00.

Jim, this has great color in the leaves and they surround the bare trunk well. It’s an interesting use of “framing” since both the frame and the “subject” are nicely and sharp and attractive. I do think that a bit of burning-in along the bottom, to better match the luminosity of the leaves, would be a subtle improvement.

Thank you, Mark. I was so interested in the frame that I did not consider that it was all in focus. Thanks for pointing that out.
