This is another great egret family scene Steve. Nice whites, nice greens, great details where they’re needed. I also like the grab on mom’s beak by the hungry little chick. You’ve got a nice series of these to work with.
Very nice composition and interaction as usual, Steve. To my eye the whites are pretty gray in this image and I think you could bring them up quite a bit without blowing anything our (if a small area starts to go, pulling down the highlights either globally or better, locally, will keep it under control for quite a ways).
Hi Steve, great moment you captured. Love being able to see the eye of the adult and the chick being fed. The setting is really nice. My egret nest shots usually have had stray branches going every which way without the nice greenery present here. Distant BG is complimentary too. Agree with Dennis on the whites. A fine catch.
Steve the connection between the egret and its chicks you have captured is striking. The gentle bend of the parent’s neck as it feeds its young conveys a powerful narrative of care and nurturing.
The nest is placed within the lush greenery, creating a natural frame that directs attention to the main subjects. The color balance—the white of the egret against the rich green foliage—enhances the image’s visual appeal, making the subjects stand out vividly. The exposure is well-handled, ensuring the white plumage isn’t overexposed and maintains detail.
The captured moment is intimate and universal, evoking a sense of connection and continuity in nature. The image tells a story and invites viewers to reflect on the delicate bonds that sustain life. Good one!
