Description

One of the berry tosses from this winter’s stakeouts at the Hawthorn where I discovered these guys several years ago. It takes them a couple of weeks to clean off the tree and I probably won’t see one again until the next winter.

Very good, Diane. I think you saved the best composition for last with the Waxwing perched right up on top.

Oh! So very Diane! It’s beautiful. Love the bird on top of the mass of berries. Catching the berry in mid flight is the icing on the cake.

Classic shot! So wonderful. I see (but more often hear) these guys in summer, especially in the kayak, but they’re so small and skittery that I can’t get near them. Light, pose, perch and action to die for here. Fabulous.

Hi Diane, I think this one is the best one yet too. Perfect timing captured with the berry toss. Love the swath of berries under the bird. Sweet image.

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank, @glennie, @Kris_Smith and @Allen_Sparks! I’m pretty happy with this one – it’s so hard to get a bird in the clear in this cluttered tree, and they like to hide behind even the tiniest sticks. I think I have a few more worth posting, if I can ever get out of the latest astro black hole I got sucked into.

Great image with the bird’s position and berry toss!
We had some waxwings in the cotoneaster today, but just as we were leaving for the weekend! ACK!
Hope they are there when we return Sunday. We see them so rarely here.
