A Bee and red hot poker

REPOST

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I’m having a real tough time getting this to work. There seems to be some connection with some of the work done by Sandy in the past, weekly challenge 1201.
It appears that my image because of the name perhaps is getting mixed up.
This should go in weekly challenge 6154.
Because there is no weekly challenge category at the beginning of the of the site, there’s some confusion going on. I’ve been working on this for hours trying to make it happen I’m really frustrated.

Technical Details

I especially like the lighter bokeh in the upper RH corner which shows off the bee from the darker portions of the BG. I would reduce the brightness of the stamens which pulls my eyes away from the bee. Color balance looks good and you could easily crop this down if you need to play around with the comp. Comp looks fine to me. Well done! Hopefully, the moderators will help you out regarding the proper place for the weekly challenge.

David, I’m not sure why there was/is a problem posting to the WC. Everything looks fine here, so I’ll move it to the WC. I really like how the color of the bee and the colors in the flower coordinate, plus you’ve got lots of good detail in both. I also like the “sunny summer day” feeling. I agree with Jim about burning-in slightly the brightest yellows, below the bee.

David: I’ll echo @Jim_Zablotny and @Mark_Seaver regarding the hot spots but this is a great capture and I’m glad you were able to overcome the posting problems. This shot was certainly worth the effort. Terrific detail on the bee and I really like the perch. Well done. >=))>

I love these colors, so positive and strong. Not to mention the sharpness and richness of detail. That’s already been mentioned.
These bumblebees are really good climbers.
You can see that here, too.
Thanks for showing us, David.
