A Norris Dragon

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The thermal areas of Yellowstone often feel mystical. While walking the boardwalk in the Norris geyser basin, I noticed this Dragon lurking in the runoff. By moving slowly and quietly, I was able to get this photo without it flying away.

Specific Feedback

A fun finding, with the green bits enhanced slightly for emphasis.

Technical Details

R5, 100-500 @ 200, 1/250 s, f/13, iso 800, tripod.

Wow. This is really cool. It looks like a lithograph. It is fearful looking in a way. It amazing you got this from just mud patterns.

I love this flight of imagination. Probably the dark and neutral colors makes the photo. Excellent.

Cool! And rather disturbing. The dark strands of algae (I think that’s algae, anyway) are quite creepy.

I’ll be in Yellowstone week after next with one of David & Jennifer’s workshop. I’m really looking forward to visiting Norris Basin again!
